That’s right, bitch.
Elliot Nightray.
of course this was made.

Am I the only one who gets this? I don’t care how ‘plausible’ your OTP is, if the two characters aren’t openly together, it’s not canon. And gawd, the ARGUEMENTS pairings cause within fandoms. I’ve seen deviantions where people posted puking faces all over the comments, just because they didn’t support the pairing.
Seriously. WTF.
It’s even worse when a GROUP of supporters flame a deviation because ‘omg no this couple sux’. It happens. I’ve seen it. It fuckin’ pisses me off to know that THIS is what the internet has been reduced to: Flame wars over whether Character X loves Character Y or Character Z.
And then there’s those who treat any critism of their OTP as a personal attack. The type that’s immediately at your throat as soon as you mention in passing even considering that another pairing might be just as likely. Falling into this category are the people who, instead of ignoring art of other pairings, decide to let the artist know what they think of them and their mothers. Hence the vomiting icons I mentioned before.
Then, the third party. Those who hate pairings just because they’re yaoi/yuri/hentai, and have no real reason, other than to entertain themselves by relentlessly bashing said pairing, to dislike it so strongly. These are the breed who will actually bother to NOTE you, just because they’ve decided that they don’t like who you ship.THIS, ALL OF THIS
Okay, okay, these are my three main attitudes to shipping wars.
1) Regardless of what you are personally interested in I am probably not going to change what I ship to suit you. You may talk all you want, I reserve my right to completely fucking ignore you and/or tell you to stfu if you keep getting on my ass about it.
2) Regardless of what I am personally interested in I do not expect you to change what you ship to suit me. With that said I feel it’s okay to tell you how I feel about your pairing, without being nasty or making personal attacks.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL
3) WHO FUCKING CARES?
It’s fandom. The point of fandom is pretty much to just enjoy your show/book/manga/whatever by making your own interpretations of it and sharing them with others if you so choose. I am friends with some really cool people in ALL my fandoms who happen to ship things I think are completely retarded, but at the end of the day does it REALLY matter? It’s fine to just agree to disagree and be polite to each other. I quite like bitching about pairings I don’t like sometimes, but the difference is that I’m not SERIOUSLY freaking out about how AWFUL it is for anyone to speculate about one fictional character having sex with another fictional character. I can kind of understand if it’s a canon pairing you’re pissed off with that was done badly/is stupid (SUCH AS MAIKO :| :| :|), but when it’s pure fanon speculation, I kind of fail to see why it matters.
At the end of the day, like I said, nobody fucking cares. Chances are anyway that it won’t matter thirty years from now if you shipped SasuNaru or Harry/Draco or whatever the fuck stupid pairing you happen to like (unless you’re me in which case you will probably still be here on tumblr at the age of 75 insisting that Elliot and Reo are canon).
It doesn’t really matter, right? Go enjoy your midget gay furry dinosaur porn.
